"Even with all the efforts being made, the peak loads must be still covered by supplies from Russia. Therefore, we are definitely determined to negotiate with the Russians because the contract for the heating season is crucial and we will sign it," the head of the Ministry of Energy said at a briefing in Kyiv on Monday.
According to him, the prior negotiations showed that the Russian side was also inclined to conclude the new "winter package" contract but the political issues impeded to do this.
"The next round will be held in Vienna late August. I believe that we will gain understanding after all," Demchyshyn said.
