According to information announced today at a briefing by the Presidential Administration spokesman on ATO matters Oleksandr Motuzianyk, militants committed three mortar attacks at the Ukrainian army positions near Stanytsia Luhanska after midnight, Censor.NET reports.
It was rather calm near Shchastia with only two episodes of cease-fire violation by the enemy.
"The situation was very unstable in the central part of the Bakhmutska highway to the north of it. In particular, in the morning militants committed two massive artillery attacks on the Ukrainian army positions near Orikhove; the enemy was firing artillery, mortars and small arms. Also, Ukraine-controlled territories near Triokhizbenka and Krymske were attacked with grenade launchers," Motuzianyk said.
According to him, an epicenter of the conflict in the Luhansk region is the area surrounding the occupied Pervomaisk. This sector is seeing expansion of the combat theater. During the day, terrorists committed nine attacks at the Ukrainian positions in Zolote firing from at least four different positions, most of them being located directly in the Pervomaisk residential areas and neighboring villages. Popasna and Novozvanivka were also covered with mortars at night. Troitske and Sanzharivka located on the border of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions suffered the biggest damage. Besides mortar and IFV attacks, the enemy used Grad rocket systems having delivered three full loads on Ukrainian troops positions yesterday in the evening.
"It was rather calm yesterday in the Donetsk direction near Svitlodarsk. However, the situation is quite unstable near Horlivka: the enemy is adhering to a harassing mortar and small arms fire tactics along the contact line," he added.
The situation on the western outskirts of Donetsk is steadily difficult. In particular, militants committed an artillery strike on Avdiivka yesterday after midnight. According to intelligence, the enemy guns are located in Yasynuvata. Also, as a result of tank shelling in Nevelske, three civilians were injured (a woman and two children). The occupants try to systematically interfere with restoration of the destroyed infrastructure, in particular water pipes and railway in the front-line areas.
In the Mariupol direction, it was quite restless yesterday at dawn. In particular, the enemy was shelling the Ukrainian positions near Bohdanivka for half an hour. Shortly after, militants committed several 120-mm mortar attacks at the village of Hranitne. In both cases the fire was delivered from a considerable distance from the east. In Chermalyk, a 30-minute skirmish occurred between ATO forces and militants hiding on the left bank of the Pavlopilske reservoir. No cease-fire violations have been recorded in the area between Pavlopil and Shyrokyne.
Yesterday, 13 drone flights were recorded in the ATO area.
