 Defense Minister Poltorak launches audit of overpriced purchase of heating oil by his Ministry

Ukrainian Defense Minister, Colonel-General Stepan Poltorak has instructed the Ukrainian Military Law Enforcement Service (VSP) to conduct an official investigation into the Ministry of Defense procurement of boiler oil at inflated prices.

The decision was made by the Minister last Friday immediately after receiving the relevant information, Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.

Internal investigation carried out by the military police (Military Law Enforcement Service) is under personal control of the Minister.

"The authorities of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine seek the procurement procedures to comply with law and be just. The perpetrators will be brought to justice for each violation of the Law," the agency stressed.

It should be reminded that MP from the Poroshenko Bloc faction Ivan Vynnyk made a statement Friday, July 31 on the illegal actions of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine officials related to organization and implementation of public procurement procedures for heating oil at unreasonably inflated prices. He appealed to Chief Military Prosecutor Anatolii Matios with the relevant claim.

According to the MP, the damage in the amount of 15 to 23 million hryvnia ($650,000 - 1,000,000) may be inflicted to the state as a result of these operations.
