 Confrontation continues in the D sector, – ATO press center

The situation remained tense in the ATO area yesterday, Aug. 1. The militants have significantly reduced the number of armed provocations in the Luhansk, Mariupol, and Artemivsk sectors. However, military confrontation continues near the city of Donetsk.

According to the report, the terrorists violated the truce 83 times firing at the ATO forces' positions along the front line. Thus, the Army's strongholds at Pisky village were shelled with 120-mm mortars from 6 p.m. till the midnight. The town of Avdiivka, Opytne and Krasnohorivka villages were fired from mortars as well. Those settlements remain the hottest spots in the ATO zone. Every day, the militants violate the Minsk Agreements shelling Ukrainian soldiers' positions with banned mortars and guns.

The terrorists use large-caliber guns in the Artemivsk sector from time to time. The village of Zolote was shelled with 120-mm mortars at 9 p.m., while Troitske village was fired at from an APC at 10:10 p.m.

In general, 83 militants' attacks were registered yesterday, 51 of which were conducted in the Donetsk sector.
