Afanasyev announced that he refused to testify. He explained that all he had said previously had been said under pressure.
In response to this statement, Sentsov and Kolchenko began to applause.
"Sentsov shouted "Glory to Ukraine!" and "Free Afanasyev!". Afanasyev responded "Glory to Heroes!", another message reads.
When asked whether he knew the defendants, Afanasyev responded: "Sentsov is known by all Ukraine, he is a well-known filmmaker. I do not know the other one."
As reported earlier, Hennadiy Afanasyev and Aleksey Chirniy were delivered to witness in Rostov-on-Don on the case. They cooperated with the prosecution and were sentenced to seven years in prison. According to their agreement with the authorities, Afanasyev and Chirniy should have testified in court against Setsov and Kolchenko.
