 Bank branch fired at in Kyiv downtown, - Interior Ministry. PHOTOS + VIDEO

At around 1 a.m. this morning, July 24, information of an explosion near a bank branch at Smyrnova-Lastochkina Street in Kyiv was received by police.

This was announced by the Interior Ministry press service, Censor.NET informs.

Police units, investigative groups, and explosive experts arrived to the explosion site soon after the notification.

Preliminary data suggests that an unidentified man shot once into the bank branch. As a result, the building facade and two windows on the third and fourth floor were damaged. No one was hurt as a result, the Ministry informed.

All data found in connection to the crime have been filed with the Unified register of pre-trial investigations. Investigative department of Shevchenkivskyi district police administration in Kyiv opened a criminal proceeding under part 4 article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ("hooliganism"). Police is searching for persons involved in the crime.

Hromadske TV reporter Dmytro Lebedev announced of the explosion earlier, LigaBusinessInform said. According to his Twitter post, a man wearing all black arrived by Tavria car and made a shot from a mortar into the bank's fourth-floor window.

Social media users stated that the explosion was heard in several districts of Kyiv.
