Saakashvili proposes to replace Regional State Administrations with Economic Development Councils

The Council for Economic Development of the Odesa region will embody tax service, customs office, law enforcement agencies, and regional and city state administrations.

Head of the Odesa Regional State Administration Mikheil Saakashvili summed up the results of the National Council of Reforms session, Censor.NET reports citing Liga.

"The Odesa administration proposed creation of Economic Development Council of the Odesa region for consideration by National Council of Reforms. This is the new body which will be created in Odesa first among all the regions. The aim of this body is to unite tax service, customs office, law enforcement agencies, and regional and city state administrations under the same roof," the governor said.

Saakashvili also said that the regional state administrations are inefficient and should be abolished. "We have adopted a different format of the regional administrations and Odesa offered other regions to make the same submissions. The National Council, the government, and the president have supported it today," he said.
