The combined radio station R-142N is designed to ensure troop control and communication organization on the battalion-regiment-division level. It can operate on move at the speed of up to 40 kilometers per hour (25 mph) and at a camp site and can be used both independently and as a part of a communications hub. The equipment of command post vehicle R-142N provides simplex radio-telephony communication both in open and secure mode.
While on a median terrain and having selected the appropriate frequency (free from the radio interference and in compliance with the used antennas), the radio station ensures the data transmitting and receiving on various distances - the bigger (higher) is the antenna the larger is the covered area. The mentioned training camp is located in the territory of an abandoned military unit in the outskirts of Donetsk (Ukraine).
