 Biden to Poroshenko: US will continue to assist Ukraine in defending its independence and territorial integrity

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a telephone conversation with the U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden.

As reported by Censor.NET, this is announced by the presidential press service.

Poroshenko confirmed the Ukraine's strict abiding by the Minsk agreements and stressed the importance of their proper implementation by all the parties, particularly as regards a full cease-fire, withdrawal of heavy weapons and release of hostages.

The head of state mentioned about the steps of Ukraine aimed at the decentralization of power and the corresponding changes to the Constitution of Ukraine, as well as preparations for the coming local elections.

The vice president welcomed the decision of the Ukrainian Parliament on the start of the constitutional reform and reiterated the U.S. position regarding its full support of the Ukraine's efforts for further settlement of the situation in the Donbas.

Biden said the United States would continue to assist Ukraine in defending its independence and territorial integrity, building up its defense, maintaining economic stability and energy security, carrying out reforms on its European integration track.
