The president stressed that the buildup of tension on the contact line in the Donbas, which has been observed in recent weeks, is clearly synchronized with the attempts to destabilize the situation inside the country.
"This Kremlin's scenario is obvious. I do not care whether our patriots participate in it consciously or blindly. As the Protector of the Constitution, rights and freedoms of the citizens, I must root out the phenomenon of illegal armed formations mercilessly regardless of their motivation," the head of state said.
"The ones who use rocket launchers and machine guns in Zakarpattia are the terrorists and mobsters. Their essence remains the same regardless of the fact that they are wearing patriotic Chevrons and rolling themselves up in the Ukrainian flag. This aggravates their guilt instead. There is no room for anarchy and chieftainship in Ukraine. We had got such an experience in 1918-1919 and had lost the State then. We must now do our best to preserve the Ukrainian State. Because the victory of Russia and the loss of independence had taught the Ukrainian people a painful lesson then so that they would always remember how anarchy looked like," Poroshenko said.
As previously reported, Poroshenko is soon to come forward with an initiative to temporarily authorize the law enforcement agencies to prosecute all armed individuals, who do not serve in law enforcement agencies, as terrorists.
