Shokin must take the case of Yanukovych to court in September or resign, - Lutsenko

Head of Poroshenko Bloc faction Yurii Lutsenko believes that if the Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin does not submit the criminal case of fugitive ex-president Viktor Yanukovych to the court in September he will have to resign.

He told reporters on the sidelines of the Verkhovna Rada, Censor.NET correspondent informs.

"I want the case under the Article 255 on creation of the criminal organization by Viktor Yanukovych to be submitted to the court in September. It is necessary to prove the usurpation of power by the Constitutional Court judges through high treason in order to do this as well as prove several facts of plundering the country by Yanukovych's team in his interest and personal gain of Yanukovych in the creation of such an organization taking as the example the misappropriation of Mezhyhirya. It is also critical to prove his guilt in the execution of Maidan activists under the Article 115," Lutsenko said noting that the preparation of such criminal proceedings and indictments has many stages.

"Today we are going to create provisional investigatory commission on this issue in the Verkhovna Rada not in order to assess Shokin's surname or his skills but to consider the progress of these cases to submit them to the court in September," the MP said.

According to Lutsenko, Viktor Shokin has personally assured him that he will be ready to "technically" take the case to the court in September. "I believe him," Lutsenko said.

He also believes that the Prosecutor General cannot be replaced every six months. "One shouldn't swap horses in midstream. At this point, the Prosecutor General is in the picture on this case. I want him either file a lawsuit in September or resign. Honestly," Head of Poroshenko Bloc faction summed up.
