 Poroshenko discussed progress of Minsk II implementation with Angela Merkel and Francois Hollande

The President of Ukraine had a phone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande.

President Petro Poroshenko, Chancellor Angela Merkel and President Francois Hollande had a phone conversation today. Their discussion focused on the state of implementation of the Minsk Package of Measures. The three leaders agreed that renewed efforts are necessary to fully implement the cease-fire and the withdrawal of heavy weapons.

President Poroshenko reiterated his willingness to achieve a de-escalation around Shyrokyne as well as to come to an agreement on the withdrawal of weapons with less than 100mm caliber. He presented his plans regarding these two issues, both of which were welcomed by the Chancellor Merkel and President Hollande.

The French President and the German Chancellor commended President Poroshenko to continue constitutional reforms aimed at implementing a decentralization of Ukraine in line with the Minsk Package of Measures with a special emphasis reflecting a special order of self-governance in certain districts of Donbas in the Constitutions Draft.
