As reported by Censor.NET citing the Deputy Prime Minister Valerii Voshchevskyi press service, the corresponding decision was taken at a Committee meeting on July 6.
One of the important steps to reform the road sector is to transfer state controlled regional road services to the local level. This process is impeded by the intermediate management structure - Highways of Ukraine state joint stock company, subordinating regional road services.
Therefore, the relevant government committee supported a draft resolution, according to which the state joint stock company is liquidated and its subsidiaries (regional road services) are taken over by the State Highway Agency.
According to Voshchevskyi, this resolution will be another step in reforming the public administration of highways.
Meanwhile, the deputy prime minister stressed that together with the transfer of roads and service organizations local authorities need to address financing issues.
"Financial support of what we are doing should be clear and precise. It is necessary to restore the practice of setting up a special road fund with clearly allocated sources of funding, as the proper work of the road sector depends on the proper financing," Voshchevskyi resumed.
