 Defense Ministry: terrorists committed 7,398 attacks on Ukrainian troops’ positions since the beginning of “cease-fire”

The terrorists have fired at the Ukrainian military positions 7398 times since Feb. 15, when President Poroshenko ordered to completely cease fire in the ATO area.

Ministry of Defense Chief Inspector for Humanitarian and Social Security Valentyn Fedichev said on the air of Channel 5, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainski Novyny.

According to him, the terrorists committed 154 attacks using multiple rocket launchers, 614 strikes from 150-mm and 122-mm artillery, 2389 strikes from 120-mm caliber mortars, and employed weapons of tanks 271 times. Besides, the militants took 17 attempts to storm Ukrainian positions and 190 times used heavy weapons to fire at cities and villages in the territory under control of Ukraine.

It should be reminded that President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko ordered to completely cease fire in the ATO area on Feb. 15, 2015. The agreement on cease-fire was achieved at the night of Feb. 11 during hours of talks with participation of French President Francois Hollande, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, and Russian President Vladimir Putin (the so-called Normandy format) in Minsk, Belarus.

Following the talks, the tripartite contact group had signed a "package of measures to implement the Minsk Agreements". There were 13 entries in the document that first and foremost provided for a comprehensive cease-fire in the Donbas starting from midnight February 15, 2015 (Kyiv time). In turn, the leaders of the Normandy four had verbally expressed support of the package of measures.
