 USS Porter to enter Black Sea

USS Porter (DDG 78) is scheduled to enter the Black Sea tomorrow.

The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Porter (DDG 78) is scheduled to enter the Black Sea, July 5, 2015, to promote peace and stability in the region, Censor.NET reports citing UNIAN.

"Porter's presence in the Black Sea will serve to reaffirm the U.S. dedication and commitment toward strengthening the partnerships and joint operational capabilities amongst U.S., NATO and regional Black Sea partners" the report of the U.S. 6th Fleet reads.

Commander Blair Guy, USS Porter commanding officer stressed that "engagement from U.S. Navy ships operating in the Black Sea not only strengthens relationships with our allies but also contributes to the overall stability in the region."

Porter entered the Black Sea in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve. The United States continues to demonstrate its commitment to the collective security of NATO allies and support for the partners in Europe, in light of the ongoing Russian intervention in Ukraine.
