 “This is pure populism. We will have a little chance of seeing next IMF tranche,” - Abromavicius commented on foreign currency loans law

Minister of Economic Development and Trade Aivaras Abromavicius believes that the law on restructuring of the foreign currency loans is populism.

The minister said at a briefing, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainski Novyny.

"This law is pure populism. It is contrary to our obligations to the IMF. And we will have a little chance of seeing next IMF tranche aimed to stabilize our economic situation," he said.

Abromavicius expressed the hope that President Petro Poroshenko would veto the law.

As reported, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the bill on the conversion of foreign currency consumer loans into hryvnia at the official rate on the date of conclusion of the contract July 2.
