"On the eve of Minsk talks militants cynically decided to return empty and destroyed Shyrokyne" - Ukrainian General

Today, July 2, at the briefing of the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the cease-fire for members of the OSCE monitoring mission, the Russian side announced a decision of leadership of certain areas of the Donetsk region (CADR) to withdraw its troops from the village of Shyrokyne. According to the Russian side of the JCCC as of 8 a.m., there is not a single unit of the CADR in Shyrokyne.

This is reported by Censor.NET citing the press center of the ATO.

"The cynicism of the situation lies in the fact that before the next negotiations in Minsk the militants defiantly decided to return the destroyed and deserted Shyrokyne to Ukraine, positioning the decision as compliance with the Minsk Agreement," Head of the Ukrainian side of the JCCC, Major General Andrii Taran stated.

Now this strip of land packed with "iron" - destroyed houses, disrupted utilities, with unexploded mines set by CADR militants everywhere.

Of the 1.500 residents, who had previously lived in the village, there is none any more. Now it will take a long time and a lot of resources to restore the destroyed village back to normal life.

Today, the Joint Center observers have not recorded any attacks during daylight.

Information on the militants leaving Shyrokyne is being checked.
