Terrorists attempt to seize Shyrokyne while announcing 'demilitarization' - M sector press officer

Mercenaries shelled the village of Shyrokyne, the Donetsk region, two times from small arms and 120-mm mortars.

This was announced by M sector press officer Yaroslav Chepurnyi on air of 112 Ukraine TV channel, Censor.NET reports.

"The night (in M sector - ed.) was unquiet. The enemy shelled our troops' positions using grenade launchers and self-propelled guns of 122-mm caliber. The shelling started at 11:40 p.m. and ended at 1 a.m. After midnight, the shelling lasted until 2 a.m.," he noted.

"The enemy fired at Shyrokyne two times using small arms and 120-mm mortars, as well as Berdianske using 122-mm cannon artillery," Chepurnyi added.

"All demilitarization talks are just terrorists' attempt to make us leave the positions, which the enemy will immediately take, and it will be difficult to kick them out of there. I would like to remind that direct vision from Shyrokyne (hills that we hold) to Mariupol is 12 km. Eastern suburbs of Mariupol can be aimed at with Grads and cannon artillery of large caliber," he said.

Chepurnyi stressed that demilitarization can negatively affect security of Mariupol residents.
