"We need to increase production and we need to move to market rates in order to do this. We have a common goal: Ukraine should be able to completely, 100 per cent satisfy its gas demand by locally produced fuel," Yatseniuk said.
He explained that 21 billion cubic meters of gas per year are required to satisfy the needs of the residents at this point.
"In general, Ukraine produces 19 billion cubic meters of gas per year, which is less than it is necessary for the needs of the citizens. In this case, the state company that can directly deliver gas to the population produces only 12 billion cubic meters. The remaining seven billion are produced by private companies that sell this gas at market prices," the prime minister explained.
He noted that the prime cost of domestic gas is much lower than the price of the imported one ant totals of $100.
