 Pentagon to continue and strengthen military support to Ukraine, US Secretary of Defense says

U.S. authorities intend to provide further support to Ukraine and continue putting pressure on the Russian Federation.

This was stated by U.S. Secretary of Defense Ash Carter on the results of the NATO-Ukraine Commission and bilateral meeting with Minister of Defense of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak in Brussels on Thursday, Censor.NET informs citing Ukrinform.

Carter said that he once again reiterated the commitment of the United States to stand together with Ukraine and the Ukrainian people at today's meeting of NATO-Ukraine Commission as well as at a bilateral meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart. He added that political and economic pressure was the key issue in responding to the Russian aggression in the east of Ukraine. He also thanked the European allies and partners for taking a very important decision to extend the EU sanctions against Russia at the beginning of the week. According to the head of the Pentagon the U.S. government is also going to continue and intensify the military support of Ukraine.

Ashton Carter noted that the support of Ukraine's defense sector by the United States has reached a total of $238,000,000.
