Canadian Defense Minister quoted Prime Minister Stephen Harper regarding the provision of lethal weapons to Ukraine saying that all options has been put on the table but Canada would not act alone. He added that his country required consensus on this issue with the other NATO countries to follow this path together.
In addition, he said that besides the main mission of 200 military trainers that Canada would send to Ukraine, five minor specialized training missions, which will include training of military police and aerial reconnaissance, medical training as well as explosive devices diffusion training, will be created.
The minister also reminded that Canada had provided dozens of tons of military equipment to the Ukrainian military last year, including night vision goggles and high quality winter ammunition. He also said that Canada would consider further supplies of non-kinetic equipment to Ukraine.
