The meeting was attended by heads of the Interior Ministry, Security Service and the State Border Service of Ukraine. " electronic system of pass control will be introduced at checkpoints in the ATO area starting July 7 this year," Oleksandr Turchynov said, explaining that citizens will not have to directly contact those who issue documents to obtain permits.
According to him, the application can be submitted by regular mail or email, or you can fill out a form at a coordination center, "dropping the application in a special box." Applications of citizens will be automatically checked in security forces' databases for "criminal offenses, participation in armed groups or cooperation with the separatists." "If confirmed, those involved in crimes will be arrested at checkpoints," the NSDC Secretary said, adding that citizens who pass electronic check will receiving a corresponding message and will be able to freely cross the checkpoints after presenting a passport of Ukrainian citizen.
Turchynov is convinced that "the new pass control system in the ATO area will be effective and efficient and will allow to get rid of lines at checkpoints, and overcome corruption in the issuance of permits."
