 Economics Minister proposes to outsource control over customs to a foreign company

The Ukrainian government is discussing the transfer of the customs service control to a foreign company.

This was stated by Minister of Economic Development and Trade Aivaras Abromavicius at the Ministry's panel meeting on Tuesday, Censor.NET reports citing UNIAN.

"We, in the government are discussing a drastic measure of transferring the management of customs to a foreign company," he said.

According to him, Minister of Finance Natalie Jaresko will soon submit the reform of the State Fiscal Service (customs are a part of the SFS) to the Cabinet of Ministers.

Earlier Abromavicius wrote on his Twitter page that outsourcing the management of customs was applied in a number of countries with transitional economics, including the assistance of a British company Crown Agents for these purposes.
