 Registration Service by example of Georgia to be created in Odesa region, governor Saakashvili says

Head of the Odesa State Regional Administration Mikheil Saakashvili told about current and upcoming reforms in the region.

This was posted on Facebook page of Censor.NET's Editor-in-Chief Yurii Butusov.

"Mikheil Saakashvili told Censor.NET about his first activities as Odesa governor," Butusov wrote.

Saakashvili said that the U.S. Embassy was ready to finance creation of a fund which would develop reforms program in key sectors, including registration service. "In Odesa region, we will create registration service by example of Georgia. No bribes, and registration will take a few minutes," the governor said, Butusov wrote.

"Right after Lortkipanidze was appointed new Interior Ministry Regional Department head in the Odesa region, a person came to the dept to file a claim that one of the colleges' professor demanded a bribe for enrollment. Next morning, this professor was arrested. A line of those who wish to file claims appeared at the regional Interior Administration," Saakashvili said about newly appointed head of Interior Ministry administration in the region Lortkipanidze. He also said Lortkipanidze would sack a number of key officials in his department who are not competent and trustworthy.

"On Wednesday, I spent a day in a business trip to Tatarbunary using an ordinary passenger bus. It turned out to be a great way to learn about how people were going and to feel what the regional infrastructure is," the governor said.

"The road between Odesa and Reni is totally destroyed. I have seen great beaches of the Odesa region, its agriculture, people who want to work, but I haven't seen the infrastructure. We won't be able to enhance the economy without roads. We have to construct roads not because this is beautiful, but because roads are the nerves of the economy," Saakashvili commented as quoted by Butusov.
