Crimea lost half of land productivity and all of its rice farming, - Food and Agrarian Policy Minister Pavlenko

Russia-occupied Crimean peninsula lost half of its crop yield and all of its rice farming due to water deficit.

As reported by Censor.NET, this was announced by Food and Agrarian Policy Minister of Ukraine Oleksii Pavlenko in an interview to Channel 5.

"The situation is as follows - rice farming is nearly completely destroyed in Crimea. It used to be a strong sector of 19,000 hectares of land. Due to lack of water, crops yield will be lost. According to our calculations, Crimea will lose up to 50% of its crop productivity without water, which is 350-400 thousand of tons. Crimea will not be able to supply itself with food under these conditions," Pavlenko stated.

According to the minister, difference in agrarian sectors of Crimea and the Kherson region within continental Ukraine is already visible.
