 Ukraine's President had a phone conversation with Joseph Biden

President Petro Poroshenko had a phone conversation with U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden.

The Ukrainian President once again expressed condolences to Joseph Biden over the irreparable loss of his son Beau Biden. "I saw that the entire American nation as well as a lot of people all over the world, including Ukraine, shared your pain. I hope that his love and support will give you strength at this difficult time to continue serving the country," the president said.

President Poroshenko thanked the United States for its firm position demonstrated at the recent G7 Summit, which had particularly been reflected in the statement of its leaders regarding possible prolongation of sanctions in case Russia would further violate the Minsk agreements. The parties have discussed the importance of determining the next steps and measures in case of further escalation in the Donbas.

The parties emphasized the importance of unity of the entire civilized world in the support for Ukraine. "It goes about not only the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. The world will face geopolitical upheavals if we do not win," Petro Poroshenko noted.

The parties also discussed the allocation of assistance by the U.S. for the enhancement of Ukrainian army's defense capacity. The president asked the Vice President to uphold respective legislative initiative in the U.S. Senate.

The interlocutors discussed the opportunity of further macro-financial aid for Ukraine.

Petro Poroshenko assured of irreversibility of the course of reforms and the fight against corruption in Ukraine.
