 Russian special forces operative Yerofeyev brought to the appeal court in Kyiv, - lawyer

Detained servicemen of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (GRU) Yevgeny Yerofeyev was brought to the session of the appeal court in Kyiv on Wednesday.

It is expected that the complaint against the pre-trial restraint of remand in custody imposed on him will be considered soon. Lawyer of the arrested Yevgeny Yerofeyev Oksana Sokolovska told reporters before the hearing Wednesday afternoon, Censor.NET informs citing Interfax-Ukraine.

"He has been brought to the court. He is here right now," she said.

According to her, it is not yet known whether the hearing will be open or behind closed doors.

As reported earlier, the appeal court in Kyiv postponed processing of complaint of arrested Russian commando Yevgeny Yerofeyev's defense concerning the pre-trial restraint of remand in custody imposed on him until June 10.

It should be reminded that operatives of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Yevgeny Yerofeyev and Alexander Aleksandrov were detained by the Ukrainian soldiers near the city of Shchastia on May 16. They were served a notice of suspicion of involvement in terrorist activities of the so called "LPR" on May 20.

The Shevchenko district court of Kyiv imposed two months of arrest on Sergeant Alexander Aleksandrov and Captain Yevgeny Yerofeyev on May 22.

The Russian special forces operatives admitted in a conversation with the OSCE SMM observers that they had previously visited eastern Ukraine within a tour of duty by the order of the military command of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, Russian Defense Ministry spokesperson Igor Konashenkov announced that the agency expects the release of the Russian citizens detained in Ukraine noting that the arrested Yerofeyev and Aleksandrov were "former" Russian servicemen. In turn, Putin's spokesperson Peskov demanded the release of the Russian soldiers.
