 Kyiv downtown shootout details: Police officers fired at vehicle wheels. PHOTOS

Persons suspected of organizing a large conversion center were detained in Kyiv's downtown near Arsenalna metro station with the use of fire arms.

This was announced by Interior Ministry Adviser Anton Herashchenko on his Facebook page, Censor.NET reports.

Herashchenko said that the prosecutor's office was allowed to detain and search the vehicle, in which documents on activities of the center might have allegedly been kept.

The suspects, who were followed by the police and reached near Slavy Square, refused to stop upon law enforcers' request.

Upon their refusal, the police started to follow the suspects and blocked the vehicle near Arsenalna metro station.

When a special forces group was approaching the car, the driver bent the throttle and attempted to drive over a road trimming. In order to secure and protect the people around, the police officers were forced to fire at the car's wheels and break a window to detain the suspects. No one was hurt. A pump shotgun has been found in the car.

Investigation continues at the site.
