 Poroshenko signs laws on denunciation of agreements with Russia on military cooperation

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed a number of laws on denunciation of the agreements with Russia on cooperation in the military sphere.

In particular, Poroshenko has signed law "on denunciation of the agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Russian Federation on transit of military units of the Russian Federation temporarily deployed in the territory of the Republic of Moldova through Ukrainian territory " and the bill "on denunciation of the agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Russian Federation on the organization of inter-state military transportation and payment for them." The laws №463-VIII and №465-VIII were adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on May 21.

The documents between the governments of Ukraine and Russia were signed in Sochi November 25, 1995.

At the same time, according to the official website of the Parliament, the President of Ukraine has signed the law № 0018 "on denunciation of the agreement between Ukraine and the Russian Federation on cooperation in the field of military intelligence", № 0015 "on denunciation of the agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Russian Federation on transit of military units of the Russian Federation, which are temporarily located on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, through the Ukrainian territory" as well as law № 0016" on denunciation of the Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Russian Federation on mutual protection of classified information."

The agreement on transit of the Russian military units temporarily located on the territory of Moldova through the territory of Ukraine established the procedure, conditions and characteristics of transit movement, authorization and monitoring by the Ukrainian side.

The agreement on the organization of military interstate transportation and payment for it legislated the issue of the movement of military units, teams and their families performed by rail, air or road from Ukraine to Russia and from Russia to Ukraine as well as from Ukraine abroad and back through the territory of Russia and from Russia to other states in transit through the Ukrainian territory.

The documents were concluded for a five-year term with tacit extension unless one of the parties has declared its intention to terminate the agreement in writing within six months.
