U.S. president Barack Obama is confident that there can be a peaceful, diplomatic resolution to the Donbas problem.

He said that at a meeting with the British Prime Minister David Cameron at G7 summit, Censor.NET reports with reference to CNN.

Referring to Ukraine, Obama said: "We think that there can be a peaceful, diplomatic resolution to this problem, but it's going to require that Europe, the United States and the Transatlantic Partnership, as well as the world, stay vigilant and stay focused on the importance of upholding the principles of territorial integrity and sovereignty."

He also pointed out the importance of the sanctions with the aim to press Russia and the fighters in Donbas for "Russia's full implementation of the Minsk agreements."
