On June 3, Marinka of the Donetsk region was attacked by 500-1,000 militants supported by a large number of heavy equipment.

This was stated by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during today's press conference, Censor.NET reports.

"They were counting on the element of surprise to quickly capture the village. But the Ukrainian Armed Forces showed their best qualities," Poroshenko said, noting that after combat, a mop-up of Marinka was conducted.

"Marinka was completely liberated by the sweeping. 12 militants were detained, including a Russian citizen who resisted the Ukrainian troops," he said.

The president thanked the military command for the successful operation, which was led by Commander of the Airborne Forces Mykhailo Zabrodskyi.
