 Sloviansk became a symbol of restoration of Donbas - Poroshenko

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko attended the holiday of 'Farewell Bell' in school #15 in Sloviansk.

Addressing the attendees, the head of state has called the given assembly the main holiday of the country, for it takes place in the city liberated from occupation, Censor.NET reports citing the president's press office.

"Today's holiday - the main celebratory assembly of the country and the main holiday of Farewell Bell are today in Sloviansk. It was a matter of honor not only to liberate the city, but also repair schools and restore educational process. It was a symbol of Ukraine's dignity and an issue of all of us," Petro Poroshenko said. President's wife Maryna Poroshenko helped to restore the educational process in Sloviansk.

After the liberation of Sloviansk from militants' occupation, volunteers and Cherkasy community joined the process of restoring peaceful life in the city, for Cherkasy and Sloviansk are the sister cities. "It is a pleasure to hear the Anthem of Ukraine and the words "Glory to Ukraine - Glory to Heroes!" here," the president said.

"Sloviansk became a symbol of restoration and revival of Donbas," Petro Poroshenko emphasized.

According to the head of state, Ukraine strives for peace and continues struggle to stop the aggression, withdraw foreign troops, restore law and order in the entire Donetsk and Luhansk regions. He noted that the infrastructure of Donbas would be restored with participation of the international partners. "We need peace for that. The entire world supports Ukraine and peace will be ensured," the president said adding that he believed in fantastic future of Donbas.

In this context, he has emphasized the importance of complying with the Peace Plan and true political dialogue.

The head of state has handed diplomas and medals to five school leavers who graduated with honors. "Your medal has much greater value. You've demonstrated faith in the future. You should believe that the best moments of your life are ahead," Petro Poroshenko said.

The president has noted that the government would further work to modernize the education of the country, "for it is an investment in the future". "Our country needs you. The whole country looks at you," the head of state said.

Petro Poroshenko has also thanked teachers of this school. "Thank you for upbringing Ukrainian patriots. Thank you for your kindness and commitment to Ukraine," he said.

The event has also been attended by the First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Vitalii Kovalchuk and Minister of Education and Science Serhii Kvit.
