 Lavrov names ‘key condition’ for peaceful resolution of the situation in Donbas

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that ‘today there is a real chance’ for a peaceful settlement of the situation in Ukraine.

He stated it said today at a meeting with participants of the World Coordination Congress of Compatriots, Censor.NET reports citing TASS.

"Today there is indeed a real chance for a peaceful settlement based on the Minsk arrangements," - he said "The provisions stated in the Complex of Measures of Feb. 12 shall be fully and consistently implemented. The key condition is the establishment of a direct dialogue of the Ukrainian authorities with Luhansk and Donetsk."

Russian Foreign Minister noted that particular concern is caused by the humanitarian situation in the Donbas, the economic blockade of the region. "The answer to all the questions to be resolved is in the Minsk agreements. Russia will continue, including with support of the "Normandy Four", together with other countries to comprehensively contribute to the search for the best way out of this situation."

"Such an agreement, in particular, was reached during the recent visit of U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, who met with me, with the Russian president (Vladimir Putin). We hope that these agreements aimed at full implementation of the Minsk agreements will be executed," Lavrov summed up.
