 SBU and Amnesty International to investigate complaints of torture together

The Security Service of Ukraine reached an agreement with the international non-governmental organization Amnesty International on joint investigations of citizens' complaints about tortures.

SBU Chairman Valentyn Nalyvaichenko said at a briefing, Censor.NET informs citing Ukrinform.

"We have agreed that a joint investigation shall be carried out on each case of torture, unlawful treatment of citizens of Ukraine or other states. The materials owned by the SBU regarding crimes against humanity committed by the terrorists, separatists, citizens of Ukraine and other countries will be handed over by us," the chairman of the SBU said.

Nalyvaichenko said that his agency together with the Amnesty International will investigate every complaint lodged by the citizens about violations of the rules of interrogation or detention by the Ukrainian law enforcers, "regardless of their affiliation to the Security Service, Ministry of Internal Affairs or other forces participating in the anti-terrorist operation."
