Russian-Ukrainian border in the Rostov region of Russia has been strengthened with ditches and barriers.

As reported by Censor.NET citing Lenta.ru, this was announced by regional border service of Russian FSB.

A total of 40 km of barriers and 100 km of ditches have been erected and dug along the border, part of which is controlled by separatists on the Ukrainian side. "Engineering strengthening of the state border is conducted in order to ensure stability of the Don region, and to suppress illegal arms trafficking," the border service explained.

According to the service, the Rostov region border guards prevented over 60 attempts of weapons and ammunition import into Russia since the beginning of 2015.

As reported, Ukraine has been constructing defense structures on the border since 2014. Almost 2,000 km of the state border will be equipped with anti-tank ditches, watchtowers, alarm means, and border guarding strong points as part of the 'Wall' project.
