Mozgovoy killing is struggle for spheres of interest – ATO press center

The killing of the ‘LPR’ leader of the pro-Russian terrorist ‘Prizrak’ battalion Aleksey Mozgovoy was a result of struggle for the spheres of interest among the militants.

The Presidential Administration representative on ATO matters, Colonel Oleksandr Motuzianyk said at a briefing on Sunday, Censor.NET reports.

"An unidentified subversive group ambushed Aleksey Mozgovoy, leader of the pro-Russian terrorist 'Prizrak' battalion, which was a part of the so-called 'LPR'. The militant's car was detonated by a bomb, and then machine-gunned. According to preliminary information, Aleksey Mozgovoy died on the spot along with at least two guards and his female press secretary," he said.

Motuzianyk said that 'Prizrak' battalion had a long-lasting conflict with 'LPR' leadership. "It was not the first time when militants' leaders get killed in the struggle for the spheres of influence. Another terrorist leader nicknamed Batman was assassinated on Jan. 1, 2015. There are also constant conflicts during the disarmament of the so-called 'Cossack' gangs,"
Motuzianyk added.
