 Meeting of Trilateral Contact Group on Donbas commences in Minsk

In Minsk the Trilateral Contact Group (Ukraine, Russia, OSCE) on Donbas started its meeting.

This is reported by Censor.NET citing Belarusian agency BelTA.

Earlier, the spokesman of Ukraine's representative Leonid Kuchma stated that the meeting will be attended by representatives of the "DPR" and "LPR". The meeting will discuss the first results of the subject subgroups.

Earlier on Friday, a meeting of a subgroup on political affairs took place in Minsk. It was planned that it would consider the issue of elections in the south-east of Ukraine. Ukraine was represented by Volodymyr Horbulin.

At the last meeting of the Tripartite Contact Group of May 6, the participants formed four sub-working groups on specific areas: economic issues and the restoration of objects (Ukraine's representative - Ihor Veremieiev); the issues of refugees, internally displaced persons and humanitarian assistance (Iryna Herashchenko and Viktor Medvedchuk); political issues (Volodymyr Horbulin); security (Marchuk). The breakdown of implementation of the Minsk Agreement into four parts was designed to speed up the process. On May 14 a meeting of the economic subgroup was held, and on May 19 the meetings of the subgroups on humanitarian and security issues.
