 Russia de facto recognized the detained commandos: Russian Embassy demands meeting with Russian servicemen

Russian embassy in Kyiv has demanded a meeting of the consular staff with Russian servicemen Alexander Aleksandrov and Yevgeniy Yerofeyev detained on Ukrainian territory during a military engagement.

This is reported by Censor.NET citing the official website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"According to Ukrainian media, citing the Security Service and Defense Ministry of Ukraine, Ukrainian security forces wounded and captured citizens of the Russian Federation Alexander Aleksandrov and Yevgeniy Yerofeyev in the Luhansk region on May 16. At that, the Ukrainian authorities have stated that they are Russian servicemen. As known, the Russian Defense Ministry has already stated that these citizens are not active military personnel of the Russian armed forces," the statement reads.

"The Russian embassy in Kyiv has demanded a meeting of the detained Russian citizens with consular officials to provide them with necessary assistance in accordance with the international law," the Foreign Ministry added.
