 SBU reveals international financial scam involving Putin's biker 'the Surgeon'

The Ukrainian Security Service has exposed a criminal financial scheme aimed at appropriation of depositors' funds involving Russian citizen Alexander Zaldostanov, a known biker nicknamed Khirurg (the Surgeon).

This is reported by Censor.NET citing the press service of the SBU.

"Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine exposed an illegal scheme by which Russian biker nicknamed the Surgeon in conjunction with the management of the two financial companies Forex Trend Ltd. and Forex Trend LLC misappropriated funds of citizens of Ukraine, Russia and the CIS countries, some of which were used to finance terrorists of the so-called "DPR" and "LPR", the report says.

It was found that the perpetrators seized the means that citizens invested in the company for further investment in international financial markets. The fraudsters cashed the funds through accounts opened to members of the Night Wolves biker club, with a part of them transferred to support militant breakaway Donetsk and Luhansk "People's Republics".

During searches of the Ukrainian offices of the companies, the SBU seized financial and economic documentation confirming the transactions, including the use of Russian financial instruments. Law enforcement officers found computer equipment with files containing information about illegal financial transactions, as well as a considerable amount of cash in Russian rubles and U.S. dollars, as well as commemorative awards of the Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB).

The investigators of the SBU opened criminal proceedings under pt. 2 Art. 258-5 (financing of terrorism) of the Criminal Code. Operational-investigative actions continue.
