 Poroshenko awarded 220 Ukrainian servicemen posthumously

President Petro Poroshenko awarded 220 militaries and law enforcers (posthumously), who served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the units of the Ministry of the Interior.

The respective Decree was signed by the president on May 15, Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the head of state.

All servicemen were killed by militants in the ATO area within the period of fall 2014 - spring 2015, including in the battles near Donetsk, Avdiivka, and Debaltseve.

The president posthumously awarded 201 soldiers of the armed forces of Ukraine, including 36 with the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi III degree, 164 with the Order "For Courage" III degree, one soldier with the Order of Danylo Halytskyi. Another 19 soldiers, who served in the Interior Ministry, received the Order "For Courage" III degree.


The awards were presented for personal courage and professionalism in the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and loyalty to the military oath.
