"Today, Ukrainians struggle for democracy, freedom and European dignity. Only together we will prevail. I am grateful to Europe for its solidarity and unity with Ukraine," the president said addressing the attendees.
The president has also mentioned the great role of Martin Schulz in the last year's process of synchronous ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union by the Parliaments of Ukraine and Europe.
In his turn, Martin Schulz has emphasized that Europeans can achieve a lot together: "In the past few months, we've reached an unprecedented level of interaction in our foreign policy responding to the crisis in Ukraine - the war on our doorstep. National governments have put aside their individual interests and agreed on a single European approach. No Member State has violated this general approach yet. It is a success. If everyone pursues its own interests, we are weak. If we are united, we are strong".
