 Attacks on Horlivka increased by 30%, the direction becomes tense - Joint Center for cease-fire control

Ukrainian observers of the Joint Center for control and coordination recorded 60 violations of the cease-fire by the pro-Russian illegal armed groups yesterday. Banned artillery was used as well.

Head of the Ukrainian side of the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) of cease-fire, Major-General Andrii Taran said, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainska Pravda.

He noted that the armistice was disrupted with 120-mm mortars and 152-mm artillery, which is a flagrant violation of the Minsk agreements. According to his estimates, the number of attacks has increased by 30%, their intensity has risen as well. "We do not see any trend toward reduction of cease-fire violations," Taran said. According to him, the situation was especially tense near Horlivka city, which has actually become another hot spot.

The intense militants' shelling of the Armed Forces of Ukraine positions from heavy artillery was recorded in the village of Dzerzhynske. In addition, the violations of cease-fire were observed in the vicinity of the Donetsk airport, the villages of Stanytsia Luhanska, Shchastia, Luhanske, Marinka, Shyrokyne and others. The Joint Center observers managed to stop the shelling from 120-mm mortars in Luganske village at 02.20 p.m. The shelling of the village of Shchastia from automatic and under-barrel grenade launchers was also ceased due to the intervention of Joint Center at 3.40 p.m. as well as attacks on Dzerzhynske at 12.30 a.m.
