 Shkiriak resigns from post of Minister of Emergencies: "My mission here is completed"

Acting head of the State Emergency Service (SES) Zorian Shkiriak has resigned from his post.

He stated this at a briefing on Tuesday, May 12, Censor.NET reports citing Hromadske.

"My tenure was temporary. My mission here is complete. I am proud of all these days that I spent close to these courageous people," Shkiriak said.

"I filed my resignation from the post of Acting Chairman of the SES with the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arsenii Yatseniuk," he stated.

"It is time to make way for professionals, we have a candidate who is worthy of this position," Shkiriak said.

Zorian Shkiriak became Acting Head of the State Service for Emergency Situations on March 25 after the arrest of its previous head Serhii Bochkovskyi, suspected of corruption.
