 Cabinet arrested $1.4 billion in the accounts of Yanukovych's family, MP says

The Ukrainian government arrested 1.4 billion US dollars in accounts that belong to the family of former President Viktor Yanukovych, in particular his son Oleksandr Yanukovych. The accounts are held in Ukrainian banks.

This was stated by People's Front MP, head of the parliamentary committee on freedom of speech and information policy Viktoriia Siumar during today's parliamentary session, Censor.NET correspondent reports.

"This is a serious amount of money. And this is quite a serious success. Today we need to return these funds to the state budget of Ukraine to subsequently be able to pay these funds stolen from the Ukrainian people to low-income Ukrainians."

According to Siumar, it can be done immediately after the Prosecutor General 's Office and the court decide on confiscating Yanukovych's funds, which were arrested by the Cabinet today.
