 Situation on the front deteriorated in the evening: terrorists shelled Chermalyk and Leninske villages

The "DPR" and "LPR" terrorists violated the cease-fire deal 42 times Tuesday evening (May 5). Several villages came under their shelling.

The statement reads: "The situation in the zone of the antiterrorist operation escalated again in the evening of May 5. The illegal armed groups violated the cease-fire 42 times from 6 p.m. to midnight. At the same time, the enemy actively used heavy artillery.

"The gangs committed three strikes on the ATO forces' positions near Avdiivka and two attacks of the positions near Shyrokyne (Donetsk region) using 152-mm caliber artillery. The enemy also shelled our positions near the village of Shyrokyne twice using 122-mm caliber artillery. The militants used the same type of weapons to attack the strong points near the villages of Opytne and Vodiane.

"The Ukrainian troops' positions near the villages of Opytne, Sieverne, Hranitne, Shyrokyne, and Pisky were shelled from 120-mm mortars while the enemy opened fire from tanks, mortars, and small arms near Kirove village.

"The heaviest terrorists' assaults on our positions in the Luhansk region were conducted near the village of Stanytsia Luhanska with the use of anti-aircraft guns, automatic grenade launchers, and small arms."

It is noted that the criminals shelled two villages again: "The eastern outskirts of Chermalyk village were impacted by mortar strikes committed from 10.30 p.m. to 10.50 p.m. The illegal armed groups fired 10 projectiles from 82-mm mortar in the direction of Leninske village from 11 p.m. to 11.30 p.m."

In addition, our detachments recorded 12 flights of enemy UAVs in the south of the Donetsk region during the reported period.
