 Forest fire in Chornobyl exclusion zone completely extinguished - State Emergency Service

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the fire in the “Chornobylska Pushcha” forestry complex located in the zone of exclusion was completely put out.

Interfax reports citing the latest update on the fire published on the State Emergency Service official website, Censor.NET informs.

"The fire was isolated at 10.30 a.m. April 29. It was completely extinguished at 9 a.m. May 2."

According to the report, the State Emergency Service units and forestry workers organized surveillance and continuous mopping of the fire hazard area.

"The radiation levels were at 12 microroentgens/hour in Kyiv, the safety level being 30 microroentgens/hour; at 24 microroentgens/hour in Chornobyl, the safety level being up to 50 microroentgen/hour, and at 59 microroentgens/hour in the industrial premises of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant, the safety level being within 140 microroentgens/hour," it said.

As reported earlier, a fire broke out in the Chornobylska Pushcha forest area in the Chornobyl exclusion and mandatory evacuation zone near the villages of Buriakivka, Rudnia-Illinetska, Hlynka and Lubianka of the Ivankiv district on April 28.
