Firtash confirms Vienna meeting with Poroshenko and Klychko on the eve of 2014 elections: "We got what we wanted"

Ukrainian oligarch Dmytro Firtash claims that in spring of last year he met with presidential candidate Petro Poroshenko and leader of Udar party Vitalii Klychko.

The meeting took place on the eve of presidential elections in Ukraine in May last year. Firtash noted that he initiated the meeting with the goal of preventing the presidency of Yuliia Tymoshenko.

This was stated by the businessman in a Vienna court during the hearing of the case on his extradition to the United States, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.

"The main thing is that we got what we wanted (from the meeting - ed.): Poroshenko became president, Klychko became mayor (of Kyiv - ed.)," Firtash said.

The oligarch noted that the details of the meeting are confidential.

Firtash said that he has long been Tymoshenko's opponent, believing that she only desires the office and power, from which Ukraine loses. He called the gas market "first major loss" of Ukraine, adding that "the second loss was the Crimea."
