Russia's Investigative Committee seizes property of Poroshenko's Roshen factory in Lipetsk

On April 24, 2015 the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation seized the property of Lipetsk Confectionery Factory Roshen OJSC, which is associated with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

This is stated by the press service of the Roshen corporation, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainian News.

"Roshen Confectionery Corporation reports that on April 24, 2015 the Central Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, represented by an investigator and based on the Decree of the Basmanny District Court of Moscow, dated April 16, 2015 (as specified in the Protocol), as well as in accordance with Art. 115 of the Criminal Procedure Code, seizes the property owned by Lipetsk Confectionery Factory Roshen OJSC," the statement reads.

According to the company, the total value of the seized property reaches up to two billion rubles. Roshen stresses that it is "absolutely not comparable with the previous tax claims put forward in the framework of the initiated (for show) criminal proceedings in the amount of 180 million rubles."

"Analyzing the events that happen around Russian assets of the corporation, it is safe to say that the Russian side deliberately employs all possible methods that deprive the company from opportunity to sell its assets in Russia," Roshen's statement notes.

The company is not planning to put up with "Basmanny justice" and will appeal the decision.
