The situation in the anti-terrorist operation area remained tense on April 26.

Censor.NET reports citing the ATO press center.

"The illegal armed groups committed 23 attacks on our troops' positions from 6 p.m. until midnight. In one case, the perpetrators were firing in the direction of a civilian village," the report reads.

According to the headquarters, the gangs shelled the ATO forces' positions in the Donetsk region near Pisky village three times and near Avdiivka twice using 120-mm mortars. The enemy used 122-mm caliber artillery twice against the Ukrainian troops' positions near Avdiivka: "The same artillery system was used by the criminals near Shyrokyne once."

"Our positions near Zaitseve and Opytne villages were assaulted with the use of 82-mm mortars, machine guns, and small arms," the press center reported.

In addition it is noted that the Russian-terrorist forces shelled the Ukrainian troops' strong point near the village of Shchastia in the Luhansk region five times including three attacks from the anti-aircraft gun and two more from automatic grenade launchers. The positions of the Ukrainian servicemen near the village of Sokilnyky were shelled from the automatic grenade launchers as well.

The headquarters also reported that the illegal armed groups fired at civilians again: "The indiscriminate firing from Zu-23-2 anti-aircraft gun, which was committed at 10.05 p.m., was directed towards the village of Shchastia."

The enemy was also actively conducting aerial reconnaissance during this period, "Our detachments recorded 11 flights of the unmanned aerial vehicles in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions which generally took place between 9 and 10 p.m."
