 Rada adopted amendments to the bill banning promotion of Nazism and Communism

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine amended the controversial items of the law prohibiting the Communist and Nazi propaganda Thursday, April 23.

Censor.NET reports citing NV that the relevant changes to the bill "On condemnation of the Communist and National Socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes in Ukraine and prohibition of their propaganda and symbols" were supported by 233 deputies.

Speaker Volodymyr Hroisman explained in the parliament that these amendments are intended to eliminate the revealed contradictions in the law. In particular, according to the new law, the prohibition of the use of Communist symbols does not apply to documents of the government bodies and local authorities, published before 1991, the authentic combat flags, state awards and grave structures.
